AOL Reveals New Logo(s)

Are they serious? Have AOL paid good money to have these logos “designed” or were they thrown together by somebody’s kid with MS Paint and a couple of stock photo’s?

Can I stop laughing now?

  1. This was probably a bit of a The Emperor’s New Clothes thing. But it’s quite clever, you have to say. Something nice-looking but unremarkable wouldn’t get people talking about it. This is clearly deliberately shit, and I kind of applaud their bloody-mindedness. It was designed by the same company what did the London 2012 Olympics thing - they’ve done exactly the same thing again, which I suppose is a bit pathetic, but hey.

  2. But what does it say about the AOL brand Josh? To me, these logos are entirely negative. They don’t promise quality, elegance, sophistication… what are they supposed to say?

  3. I think it’s supposed to be post-modern and ironic or something. Are they saying ‘we’re so confident that we’re brilliant, we don’t need an ordinary logo, we can get by on being the best in other things. We don’t want to waste money on useless things [sic] like design’? I don’t know actually.

  4. You could be right my friend. We’ll see how it works out for them in time.
