Jeez you catch the prices for those machines — cheapest one is $3500 (USD), rising to $8000 (USD). Those prices do not include the optional LCD and “PuRam” SSD. Nor do those prices include a display. Their screens aren’t cheap either — $2000 (USD) for their smallest triple panel, and a whopping great $17500 (USD) for their 92” quad panel. I must admit the Athlon 64 with PuRam and a 92” quad panel is nice bit of kit, but then you’re looking at spending $22500 (USD) + extra for the options. You could buy a decent family car for that! I’d keep the G5 on your shopping list, but “L” won’t see any of my hard-earned cash. (Good find though!) |
You’re right Lord Roth. They are very expensive. I know that SSD’s aren’t cheap either so you’d probably have to add a couple of K to those figures if you want the full package. Then, of course, you’ve also got shipping from the US and import taxes… However, I use my computers more than I use my car - so I could certainly justify the cost IF I had that sort of cash available. Now, about that loan… |
That is a sweet looking machine. I like the idea if using refrigeration for cooling — it seems less risky than using water-cooling. By the way, I came here after looking your project notes on pheaton forums {http://tinyurl.com/2eh2v} expecting a detailed write up of project iceberg but your pages seem to describe a completely different computer. Is there some pages abot the water-cooled one? I would like to see a little bit more of the work you have done. This website is quite nice too. I love the apple theme. good work. :) |

That is a gorgeous looking computer and it is a performer too based on the info on their website. Dare I say it looks even better than project Iceberg.
