As I wrote in my article, I could get by with a basic camera as long as the images were of good enough quality to post on to the net. For the packaging - I’m almost certain it could be done as far as the dimensions go. However, there might well be RF issues with the radio, cellphone, 802.11G and GPS perhaps interfering with the magnetic surface of the hard drive. Jeff, perhaps you can do a little experiment for me (evil grin): hold your iPod close to your cellphone and make a call - aw go on, it’s in the interests of science mate! :-) |
Heh, I haven’t tried it, but I imagine nothing would happen. However, there might be long-term effects after many calls. How do you define a basic camera? The kind of crappy cameras they have in phones now? I would want something more than that - one megapixel at least. |
Well the basic camera is exactly as described in the article. Remember, I wouldn’t use this as my main camera, it would simply be there for opportunistic photography when I don’t have my primary kit with me. |
“opportunistic photography” - makes you sound like a real pervert J. ;-) |
“The kind of crappy cameras they have in phones now? I would want something more than that - one megapixel at least.” There is now a 10 MP camera phone available in Korea. |
I’d love something like that. Usually I have my iPod with me and recently I got a cellphone which I now have with me most of the time.
I can’t see how a gadget like this could be made small enough, though. I’d want good quality pictures and thus a good quality camera, which would take up quite a bit of space.
I think Apple could slam an iPod mini with a cellphone together quite well.
