(for: Delivering RSS Feeds)

Very good article. I believe I read snippets of discussions that said the same, but seeing it all summed up is a powerful argument indeed.

Just last week, I switched from excerpt to fulltext. My reason at that time was that it annoyed me that Wordpress filtered out links and text decoration in excerpts — but I’ve really come to love the feed being full text. I don’t worry about “losing visitors” to my feeds, because if they subscribe to my RSS feed I already consider them “more than faithful”. As you mention, comments and interactivity requires a user visit anyway.

This brings me to another issue — when working on my feed last week, it “rebooted” every other second because of my working on it. Subscribers will probably have seen “new content” every other second. Next time I work on my feed, I will use “Take Down Blog” first.

Finally, providing seperate feeds intrigued me. I do provide category feeds for all my categories, but I never thought people used them (there are quite a lot of categories anyway). But I’ll keep them after reading this, and I’ll write the [categoryname] in front of an RSS item subject! It’s definately a good idea.

The “Edit comment” feature is nice, but seems rather borked atm. I didn’t make any of the edits it suggests :)

Hmmm… I’m not sure what happened to your comment Joen. Anyway, I’ve cleaned it up a little.

I’ll have to keep my eye on the edit system!

No worries, it’s still a cool feature!
