It was not until the Mac Mini that I understood why the mac people loved their macs as much as they do. The Mac Mini IS nice, very nice. This is the closest I’ve ever been to even considering a switch (I’m a Windows user). I’m sure many others will make that switch. On another note, I believe it’s “AppleWorks” and not “iWorks” that’s included with the Mac Mini ? |
I don’t know if AppleWorks is included or not Joen. iWorks definitely isn’t, you have to buy it separately. But it’s very cheap, only £49 in the UK ($79 USD). |
I just rechecked to make sure:
It seems AppleWorks is the one that ships with, but don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t detract much from the package! My girlfriend has all but bought the box — she’s got the monitor, mouse etc, but just wants a new box. Having a basic word processor bundled is just a nice icing. |
Totally unrelated, but I noticed you used a Metamark link. While Metamark is more diverse in its “open sourceness”, I find snipurl (or snurl) to be easier for people to remember. Check out this review of different URL Smushifiers. More on topic, I’ve been tempted to try out the Mini, but I can’t justify spending the money for me to just play with it. On the other hand, I’m looking forward to rebuilding my PC and trying my first Linux install on a separate boot. I hope to post on that as soon as I get a little research behind my belt. Any upfront suggestions? Email me through my website if so. Peace. |
Mac Mini will be the Crapapple. Underspecified dud, eat the poisoned Apple from wicked witch Jobs and you will surely kark it. |
Joen:
I’m not jealous. Not at all, not in the slightest. ;-) J.J.:
Yes. There’s no particular reason why I use that particular shortner, any would do. I’m just used to it.
Yes. Try Ubuntu - it’s one of the easiest Linux distributions around. Bobby-Jo:
Wow! :-) |
